Rob Wilkins
The Honorable Rob Wilkins is a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant, military fitness advocate, and Former Member of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition (PCSFN) appointed under President Trump and President Biden.
Wilkins is an active supporter of military veterans and involved in several military-related organizations, such as the American Veterans Center, the Transcend Foundation, the Blue Star Families Campaign for Inclusion Committee, Fisher House Golf Classic Committee, 2024 Army Navy Game Organizing Committee, and serves as President, Rolling Thunder Washington, DC.
Fitness has always been important to Wilkins. He has helped his fellow Air Force members stay fit and healthy by designing fitness programs and conducting health screenings. He received an Air Force Commendation Medal for organizing a unit wellness assessment where it was detected three Airmen were found to have diabetes. For nearly 30 years, he has served as the military liaison to the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) and assisted the efforts Joe and Ben Weider, the founding fathers of the modern day fitness movement. Wilkins has written for many fitness magazines and books, such as Muscle & Fitness, FLEX, Lifestyles Changes and Get Buffed IV.
He is the co-creator of Fit to Serve, the world’s largest fitness column highlighting how military and first responders use fitness to overcome obstacles and fulfill their duties. He is a founding member of the American Legion Wellness Panel and frequently participates in seminars and podcasts related to the importance of physical activity to military readiness, national security and recruiting.
Wilkins has been honored with numerous military decorations throughout his distinguished career, including the Meritorious Service Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), Joint Commendation Medal, Commendation Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), Achievement Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Notably, he was bestowed with the Humana Military "Boots on the Ground Award", in recognition of his sustained service to the military community.
In addition to his military accolades, Wilkins has made significant contributions beyond his service. He served as a Working Group Member for the inaugural USAF Lifestyle & Human Performance Medicine (L & PM) Summit in 2024. He was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Woodbridge, NJ Mayor John McCormac, for his dedicated service to the community and nation in promoting physical activity and wellness for all Americans.
Furthermore, Wilkins is the visionary behind National Military Fitness and Wellness Month, observed annually in November, and is a Trustee of the National History Day, the world’s largest history competition for youth between grades 9 – 12. His commitment to health promotion earned him the National Physique Committee 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his volunteer work with youth, Veteran Service Organizations, and the Special Olympics. His exceptional contributions have garnered him recognition in various spheres, including being selected for the 2019 Who's Who in America and receiving the 2018 American Veterans Center Board Member of the Year award.
Wilkins’ dedication to service extends beyond his recent achievements. He was hand-picked to serve on the 2005 Joint Task Force Inaugural Committee and has served in various capacities, including overseas tours in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Notably, he served in a hostile fire zone during deployment to OPERATION NORTHERN WATCH at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. Wilkins has also represented congressional and gubernatorial delegations to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Wilkins currently resides in Northern, VA with his wife, Amy, and son, Robert, continuing to make meaningful contributions to his community and country.
